MEMBERS of the Huddersfield Pendragon Round Table celebrated their 45th anniversary.

Those involved past and present attended the event along with Kirklees Mayor Clr Julie Stewart-Turner at Bertie’s in Elland.

It was the 45th anniversary of the presentation of its Charter in 1965.

Pendragon Round Table was born out of Huddersfield 68 which at the time had a full membership and long waiting list to join.

The first meeting was held in September 1963 with John Hoyle as the first Chairman with the first full meeting of the now christened Huddersfield Pendragon Round Table 843 in March 1964.

It was not until nearly a year later, and its 22nd meeting, that Huddersfield Round Table was formally presented with its Round Table Charter.

Since the formation, Pendragon have raised over £300,000 for local organisations, charities and individuals.

The majority of this money been raised through the Holmfirth Duck Race which was started by Jeff Woodward of Pendragon Round Table in 1984.

Their next event is the annual organised bonfire at Crosland Hill opposite the Sands House Inn, on Saturday, November 7 from 5.30pm. Adults £3, Children £1. All welcome.
