TWO cub scouts are being awarded the highest accolade they can get.

Ellis Cowley and Jonathan Raw, both aged ten, have been presented with their silver chief scouts awards.

They are both members of the 45th Huddersfield Newsome pack and are due to join scouts later this year.

They received their awards at a special meeting on Sunday.

Scout leader Ann Ridsdale said: “This is the first time I’ve had any of my cubs be awarded with this honour and I am so pleased for them.

“They had to take part in six challenges to get the award and there are several parts to each challenge.

“It is quite difficult to achieve and both of them have worked so hard to get this award.

“I think they are both very pleased to get it, I’m not sure if they realise what an achievement it is for them to be awarded this.

“But they should be rightly proud of themselves.”

Mrs Ridsdale is hoping four of her cub girls will be the next high achievers.
