MORE than 50 people have asked to speak at the public inquiry into the Castle Hill hotel.

The inquiry to hear the appeal of the Thandi Partnership against an enforcement order to stop work on the new hotel will be heard at Huddersfield Town Hall on December 16 and 17.

A Kirklees Council planning spokesman said: "I doubt that 50 individuals will speak. Instead, groups will come together and appoint representatives. It is an incredible response."

Work was halted on the hotel after fears were raised that the building was not what had been approved by council planners.

The council demanded that work stopped in May but the developers, the Thandi Partnership, appealed.

In August more than 250 people packed in to the town hall to tell the Thandi brothers and councillors their thoughts about the half-built hotel.
