THE Examiner's parent company has given £5,000 to the Tsunami Disaster Appeal.

Trinity Mirror has given the money to help the victims of the terrible earthquake and tidal wave.

And staff working for the newspaper group are arranging a number of fundraising events to boost the appeal fund still further.

Sara Wilde, the company's regional managing director, said: "The images of this disaster on our screens and in our newspapers have been harrowing and shocking.

"We have all, I believe, been moved by the heroic tales of survival and the images of lives being slowly put back together."
