CALLS for a play area could come true.

Around £50,000 has been set aside for a play facility and landscaping at an area at the Heathfield Recreation Ground in Elland.

A report says that previous play facilities have been removed and there is a lack of provision.

A consultation with local residents revealed that children and young people lacked a safe place to play in.

So Calderdale Council has secured £35,000 from its Capital Play Programme and a further £15,000 will come from previous planning agreements.

The proposal will include play equipment, mini goals for informal sports and paths and landscaping.

The land belongs to Pennine Housing 2000 and Together Housing, who have given permission for the plan.

A decision is due by January 16.
