PUPILS and teachers are celebrating after moving into new state-of-the-art facilities at Hartshead Junior and Infant School, Liversedge.

Two new classrooms, a computer suite, new play area and staff room are just some of the features included in the new extension at the school, completed this month.

Youngsters from each of the three classes are seen admiring the extension with teacher Mrs Nicola Blanchard.

The building, added to the 19th-century school, will replace two mobile classrooms, now demolished.

Head teacher Jim Lewis said: "It is wonderful and has been money very well spent. The children and teachers really like it.

"The new building fits in quite nicely with the surrounding area."

Provision for disabled people, including a lift, shower and toilet, two new offices and an improved heating system were also included in the development.
