ALAN Beaumont is much in demand - by the bailiffs that is.

Debt collection agencies up and down the UK are anxious to talk to the middle-aged Yorkshire businessman. When he left North Road, in Kirkburton, after a court battle with the landlord, mail kept coming for him.

The Examiner has seen that mail and those final demands alone total almost £30,000.

Some are in his real name, others are in his aliases and many more have been charged to businesses.

He even refused to take his library books back. Now Kirklees Council are demanding he replaces them.

Beaumont has traded under several business names.

They include:

* Scandia Swimming Pools

* Swim Spa

* Beaumont Construction

* Swimming Pools and Surrounds

* Custom Timber Supplies

* Heat Save

* Yorkshire Conservatories Direct

* Woodsome Conservatories

* Algarve Pools Enclosures

When the Examiner cornered Beaumont in Almondbury a bailiff had also caught up with him. He was demanding money for outstanding bills.

The man threatened to tow away Beaumont's car, but Beaumont went into his back pocket and produced payment in full for more than £300.

It is believed Beaumont - known as Bertie - is claiming unemployment benefit, housing benefit and carers' allowance.

Papers about the benefits claims have been found in his name, but he still appears to be linked with various businesses.
