A CLUB is on track to stage a model exhibition this weekend.

The Huddersfield Railway Modellers' Club is holding its annual show at Holmfirth Civic Hall on Saturday and Sunday.

The Milnsbridge-based club will be displaying model railways created by members.

About 12 models from visiting clubs will also be on show.

Huddersfield Railway Modellers have been working on the exhibits for three years.

The models include scenes from railways at Brockholes and Longroyd Bridge, a Thomas the Tank Engine model and a model called Nant Mawr, which will feature running miniature steam trains.

This model is said to be the best of its kind in the UK. It was the only exhibit made by a modelling club to be shown at Railfest 200 at York's National Railway Museum this year.

The group's chairman, Rodger Schofield, said: "This weekend marks the culmination of a hectic year for the club.

"We moved our clubrooms from Meltham to Milnsbridge in the spring and renovated the new premises in time for a successful opening weekend in September."

The show will be open from 10am to 5pm on both days.
