CARE home residents were in for a real treat when staff organised a cake baking competition.

The workers at Newsome’s Castle Grange care home came up with all kinds of mouth-watering creations, from snowmen to houses.

Their efforts were then judged by residents who picked the tastiest and most decorative entries.

The cooks who produced the best cakes were awarded prizes.

Staff donated their recipes to a recipe book which will be sold to raise money for the home’s social activities.

Care coordinator Gillian Brooke said: “The staff had a lot of fun. They said it brought back memories of when they used to make cakes more often.

“We thought it was a great idea to compile a book so these recipes can be passed on while raising some money.”
