A man has appeared in court after stealing fuel from three petrol stations.
Abdul Karim, of May Street in Crosland Moor, was before Kirklees magistrates yesterday.
The 37-year-old pleaded guilty to three charges of making off without payment between July 11 and 25 last year.
Magistrates heard that Karim deliberately targeted Tesco filling station in Wakefield Road, the Texaco Garage in Lockwood Road and BP Garage in Manchester Road. James Weekes, prosecuting, said that each case was identical as Karim filled his car with petrol and drove away.
He was later identified by CCTV footage and told police that he didn’t have enough cash to fill up his car.
Magistrates heard that the carpet fitter was “desperate” after his work dried up.
They fined him £150 and told him to pay £85 costs and £20 victim surcharge.
