DOCTORS were not told about the fractured skull of a Birstall man who died after a fall, an inquest has heard.

Raymond Hall, 62, of Blackburn Road, fell at his home on January 20 this year.

His daughter, Andrea Bailey, and her husband found him lying at the bottom of the stairs.

They took Mr Hall to Dewsbury and District Hospital where he was admitted to Accident and Emergency and then transferred to the Intensive Care Unit.

He also underwent two CT scans, but the first was abandoned because Mr Hall was agitated.

The second revealed a fracture to his skull, but the information was not passed on to doctors who followed up his care or to his family at the time.

At an inquest into his death on Wednesday, physician Dr David Currie told the inquest that he was not aware of the skull fracture, but that it would not have changed the care of Mr Hall.

The cause of death was given as bronchopneumonia due to haemorrhage due to the skull fracture caused by the fall.

Coroner Mr Whittaker recorded a verdict of accidental death.
