A HUDDERSFIELD man is fed up with the double trouble of vandals and fly-tippers near his home.

Stan Frontczak, 40, wants more community policing and more action from Kirklees Council to help local communities.

Mr Frontczak, of Sunningdale Road, Crosland Moor, says he has been targeted by vandals. People have also been dumping rubbish next to the street where he lives.

He and other residents first spoke out about the problems last June, saying their lives had been made a misery by burglars, vandals and drug dealers.

Things quietened down for a while, but now Mr Frontczak says the residents are suffering again.

He said: "I put a fence up at the side of my house, but it has been pulled down three times in six weeks. I've had stuff thrown at my windows and doors and my car has been damaged two or three times.

"A wing mirror was ripped off and someone scratched a line in the paintwork along with the words `I Was Here'."

Things came to a head last weekend when a Rover car was left near Mr Frontczak's home with abuse scrawled on it which he believes was aimed at him.

"It isn't my car," he said. "Police said it needn't be my concern because it wasn't my property and I couldn't be sure the abuse was aimed at me."

The car owner arrived on Wednesday to pick it up and was very unhappy to find the words scrawled on it.

Mr Frontczak said: "The police only seem to act when things reach crisis point. I am sure a lot of people across Huddersfield feel they are being let down in terms of community policing.

"It's amazing how many officers they can find to police soccer matches - where trouble is now minuscule - yet don't have enough to deal with community problems which can have a big impact on many people's lives."

Insp Nick Harvey, of Huddersfield Neighbourhood Policing Team, said: "We are aware of these problems and making inquiries into them.

"We would welcome any more information about who has caused this damage."

Mr Frontczak also hit out at Kirklees Council after waiting for a month for dumped carpet to be shifted from land off Sunningdale Road, near its junction with Nabcroft Lane.

"An official came to look at it and there seems to be uncertainty as to which council department owns the land," he said.

"There's a lot of other rubbish dumped there too. Some has been around for months, including large bags of chips."

A Kirklees spokeswoman said the land was owned by Kirklees Housing and added that the rubbish would be shifted quickly.
