YOUNGSTERS at Huddersfield Grammar School held a charity event for Oxfam at the weekend.

Paige Spencer and Claudia Taylor from class 7H at the school held the event at Eagle Care Home, Elland, on Saturday.

Activities included a tea dance and a raffle in a bid to raise vital funds for Oxfam Unwrapped – a project set up to help make a difference to the lives of people in developing countries.

The girls were hoping to raise enough money to purchase at least five goats. One goat cost around £25 to buy.

Mr Bell, Year 7 Form Tutor at Huddersfield Grammar School, said: “These goats provide a source of income through trade for nomadic communities in the developing world. They also provide a source of milk and fertiliser and are a vital ingredient in assisting people to become self-sufficient.”
