ASPIRING actors are to get a chance to play out events in a Huddersfield park's history.

Organisers of Creative Keys, a project which uses the arts to enrich community life and boost people's skills at the same time, are asking for volunteers who would like to act out tableaux in the park on September 12.

The day ties in with Civic Trust and European efforts to boost the use and appreciation of parks.

And it is just part of a big programme of events including a Brass in The Park season, walks and park restoration work.

Meltham and Meltham Mills Band performs in the park on Sunday, August 15.

Jenny Goodman, manager of Creative Keys, said: "You don't need to have extensive experience, to take part in the tableaux, just an interest in and enthusiasm for drama."

Performers must be aged 16 to 65 and be from Crosland Moor, Beaumont Park or Newsome.

Rehearsals will be held on Wednesday, September 8 and Thursday, September 9, 7.30-9.30pm and on Saturday, September 11, 10am-4pm.

Knottingley Silver Band will play on September 12 and there will be guided tours of the Victorian park.

The event has been organised by the Friends of Beaumont Park.

Heritage Day performances will be between 11am and 4pm.
