A man wanted over a shop theft in Huddersfield has been charged with murder.
A warrant was issued for the arrest of Adam Acton, 24, when he failed to show up at Kirklees Magistrates’ Court on November 17.
He is accused of stealing a Gucci perfume gift set valued at £43.
The alleged theft happened at the King Street branch of Boots.
Magistrates heard that Acton has since been arrested by Greater Manchester Police and charged with the murder of a man found dead in a burning tent in Salford.
Daniel Smith, 23, was discovered under the railway arches off Irwell Street and Trinity Way on January 20.
Acton, of no fixed address, and another male last week appeared in court over the offence.
They were remanded to Manchester Crown Court and will next appear there on April 15.
Magistrates agreed to withdraw the outstanding warrant from the Huddersfield court in light of the new charge.
The theft matter was adjourned to a video link court for Acton, 24, to be produced from custody.
Prosecutor Alex Bozman said a view will be taken as to whether the theft matter will be pursued although he felt this was unlikley.
