AN exhibition of vehicles which can be used by wheelchair users is to be held in Huddersfield tomorrow.

The event aims to show what new vehicles for taxi and private hire operators are available.

In Kirklees there are about 50 hackney carriages and several private hire vehicles which are accessible to wheelchair users.

Doug Holliday, group licensing officer for Kirklees Council, said: "We want to encourage the trade to move towards buying this type of vehicle and show them what's on offer.

"The aim is to show what new vehicles are available to enable taxi drivers and private hire companies to upgrade their fleet."

People with mobility problems and the public are welcome to attend the event from 9am to 4pm at Huddersfield Sports Centre.
