A REFORMED heroin addict pleaded guilty yesterday to possessing a CS canister and a quantity of Class A drugs in a Huddersfield nightclub.

Huddersfield Magistrates' Court heard how Daniel Mason, 20, of White Hart Drive, Newsome, was found in possession of both the spray and eight ecstasy tablets in Visage Nightclub, Folly Hall, on November 6, 2004.

Police were alerted by club bouncers who had found the tablets on Mason's person following a random search.

The canister was later found by police in his coat pocket.

The court heard that Mason claimed he bought the pills in the club that evening for his own use. He said he had the CS gas for his own protection and had not used it.

Mason said he had no intention of using the spray in the club.

He said he was carrying it for his own protection, because he had been having trouble with a group of males who have a vendetta against him.

Magistrates said they wanted a full report from probation services before they passed sentence.

Mason will now be sentenced on Friday February 4.

He was granted unconditional bail.
