PUB regulars are being urged to get behind a new scheme to `Adopt a Pub'.

The Campaign for Real Ale (Camra) project aims to help safeguard and celebrate Britain's unique pub industry.

Pub-goers are being asked to order free National Pubs Week promotional packs to give to their favourite watering hole to encourage them to take part in the biggest pub campaign ever.

More than 15,000 pubs organised vents in National Pubs Week 2003 and 2004.

Tony Jerome, Camra's marketing manager, said: "Adopting a pub for National Pubs Week is a fantastic way of encouraging more pubs to participate in this year's campaign.

"Unfortunately we lose hundreds of pubs every year.

"National Pubs Week has been designed to help celebrate Britain's unique pub industry and support pubs that are currently under threat from closure."
