MIRFIELD residents are being invited to a special event this week.
It is intended to showcase the activities and support available to children and young people.
Organised by Kirklees Young People’s Service, it is set to provide details of local sports groups and youth activities, as well as helping people already involved with a club.
Information will be available on recreation, sports, play and Duke of Edinburgh Award sessions, all of which are run by Kirklees Council.
Also present will be community members working with youth clubs, arts clubs, children’s centres, faith organisations and sports and martial arts clubs.
For people already involved with a local group – including young people themselves – there will be advice on training, development and funding.
Clr Ken Smith, joint Cabinet member for Children and Families, said: “This is a great chance for Mirfield residents to pick up tips and information.
“We encourage children and young people to lead active lives, and there’s lots of opportunity to do that in the Mirfield area.”
The event is being staged on Saturday at the Salvation Army Hall, Huddersfield Road, Mirfield, from 9.30am to 12.30pm.
