ZULU singers and dancers Africa-Africa welcomed people attending an educational conference in Huddersfield.

The one-day event, hosted by Huddersfield University staff at the McAlpine Stadium, explored the use of information technology in teaching marginalised or minority groups.

It was aimed at teachers, trainers and people working for councils, community development agencies, voluntary bodies, faith organisations and criminal justice agencies.

Among ther speakers was Trevor Phillips, chairman of the Commission for Racial Equality.

Others included Baroness Joan Walmsley, Huddersfield MP Barry Sheerman, Khalid Hussein, chief executive of Kirklees Race Equality Council, and Prof Sally Brown, from the Institute of Teaching and Learning for Higher Education.
