MORE snow is on the way ... and when that’s finished the flooding will begin followed by winds gusting up to 70mph.

The snow will return on Friday teatime and there could be blizzard conditions according to Huddersfield weather expert Paul Stevens.

He has revealed that temperatures are now around 8°C below what they should be at this time of the year but could plummet as low as -8°C tonight under clear skies.

Tomorrow will be bitterly cold and then the snow will be back around teatime with 10cms to 15cms on the hills and 2cms or 3cms in Huddersfield town centre.

Paul, of Salendine Nook, said: “Saturday morning will start cold but then expect to hear the drip-drip of melting snow as the thaw sets in.

“By Sunday it will be wet, windy and mild with the rain coming in from the west.

“The ground is already saturated so prepare for local flooding.”

And by next week it will be far milder but the winds will pick up with strong gusts up to 60mph or 70mph from the south west on Monday and Tuesday.

“Long term it will be changeable and more unsettled,” said Paul. “But early indications are that in mid February we may get some more very cold weather from the east”.
