GROUPS are being urged to apply for the Queen's Award for Voluntary Service.

The call came from Huddersfield Labour MP Barry Sheerman.

He said: "These awards allow volunteers to gain the recognition they deserve for the magnificent work they do in providing high-quality service to people in the community.

"There are some great voluntary organisations in Huddersfield who deserve recognition."

Groups have to be nominated for the award and anybody who benefits from the group is eligible to nominate.
