THE world record for eating Brussels sprouts could fall when a UK office worker bids to eat more than 43 in one minute.
Richard Townsend, 24, will try to break the current 43-sprout mark set by Dave Mynard, at the Cactus Television Studios, in London on December 10, 2003.
Mr Townsend, an accounts administrator at EDF Energy in Exeter, Devon, will bid to eat his way into the Guinness Book of Records on Monday, armed with a cocktail stick and watched over by an adjudicator.
He said: "I have been training for the last four weeks, eating at least 30 every day."
He has so far raised £150 for Mencap in sponsorship, which is being matched by EDF Energy for the charity challenge.
