TEACHER Josie Roberts has retired after 30 years at Lindley Junior School.

Mrs Roberts, who was acting assistant head, saw many changes at the school, including its move from Oakes to the present site at Lindley in 1975.

Mrs Roberts was joined at a celebration by 55 past and present colleagues, including former Lindley Juniors head teacher Edward Featherstone.

A second celebration was held at a special school assembly.

Mrs Roberts plans to spend her retirement with her grandchildren, learning to use a digital camera and travelling to France and Madeira.

But she is keen to stay connected to the school.

She said: "I have lots of happy memories and I am very proud of the school and all its achievements.

"I shall miss everyone but will continue to follow the progress of the school."

Mrs Roberts is keen to hear from past pupils that she has taught.
