HUDDERSFIELD Air Cadet Kelly Reddington, 17, has been appointed as Lord Lieutenant's Air Cadet for West Yorkshire.
Kelly, a sergeant with 59 Squadron in Huddersfield, beat off competition from across the county to gain the honour.
She will attend a range of events with the Lord Lieutenant over the next twelve months.
She takes over the role from Cadet Warrant Officer Greg Coles, who is also with 59 Squadron.
The appointment marks the start of a busy year for Kelly.
A student at Wakefield Girls' High School and having already got a maths A-level, she is studying for A-levels in further maths, biology, chemistry and general studies.
She hopes to start a degree course in medicine next year.
Kelly said: "It's a great honour for me and for the squadron, especially as this is the second year in a row that a member of 59 has been chosen for the role."
Flt Lt Emma Leech, the officer commanding 59 Squadron, said: "We're all really pleased for Kelly.
"She's worked exceptionally hard for this award and we know she'll keep to the high standards that she sets for herself when with the squadron."
59 Squadron parades between 7pm and 9.30pm Monday and Friday evenings at St. Paul's Street Drill Hall, Huddersfield.
Anyone between the ages of 13 and 16 can join.
