BRIGHOUSE twins Faye and Amy Stoutt have received Millennium Volunteers awards for their work as Air Cadets.

Faye and Amy, both 17, have each completed 200 hours of volunteer activities with the 59 Squadron Air Training Corps in Huddersfield.

The Millennium Volunteers awards are a Government-funded scheme which allows young people to have their service to others recognised.

To achieve the awards the twins took part in a variety of activities with cadets, including sports coaching and environmental work.

The 59 Squadron has given out 15 awards to cadets who have undertaken 200 hours of service.

Thirty cadets have achieved the lower award of completing 100 hours of volunteer activities.

Cadets aged 14 and 15 can also register for the Young Citizens' award, which is for 50 hours of voluntary work.

Adult Flight Sergeant Andy Brown, of 59 Squadron, said: "Any activity which involves using spare time for the benefit of others is considered appropriate. This includes many aspects of cadet activities."

The Air Training Corps is open to anyone between 13 and 16.
