HUDDERSFIELD air cadets have been making a splash at an inter-squadron swimming competition.

A team from 59 Squadron Air Training Corps took part in the competition at Knottingley, near Pontefract.

Ten of the cadets qualified for four finals out of 12 events.

They came away with seven medals - one gold, five silver and one bronze.

The points they achieved meant the senior girls' swimming team - whose members are aged 16 to 20 - won their category and the whole team finished third overall.

Some of the team members gained Wing Blues awards, meaning they will represent the South and West Yorkshire Wing in the north region inter-wing competition.

The 59 Squadron ATC meets every Monday and Friday from 7pm at St Paul's Street Drill Hall in Huddersfield.

Anyone aged 13 to 16 can join. To arrange a visit phone 01484 535779 between 7pm and 9pm on Monday or Friday or visit www.59atc.org.uk
