A KIT to help children understand how food gets from the field to their fork has been delivered to a Huddersfield school.
Reinwood Junior at Oakes has received a Grow it, Cook it, Eat it kit from supermarket chain Sainsbury’s.
The kit includes all the equipment for a class of pupils to grow and cook their own vegetables.
They are being delivered to selected schools as part of SaInsbury’s Active Kids Get Cooking scheme. This helps children to understand where food comes from and helps to develop their cooking skills.
Head teacher Graham Altoft said: “Free materials like this are invaluable and help us educate children about where food comes from and to teach them basic cooking skills, not to mention the importance of healthy eating.”
