A COUPLE who started a campaign to bring full maternity services back to Huddersfield after their newborn daughter died are celebrating the birth of a son.

Alanna Delahaye and Glynn Bates have named the tot Maison in a touching tribute to little Maisie, who died at just two days old in September last year.

Alanna, 22, gave birth to the 5lb 2oz baby by caesarian section at Calderdale Royal Hospital, Halifax, at 9.30am yesterday.

Writing on social networking website Facebook, she said: “We’re both doing well. He’s a stunner.”

Alanna and Glynn were left devastated last year when Maisie died following complications.

Alanna had been due to give birth at the Huddersfield Birth Centre, but had to be taken to Calderdale when late tests revealed Maisie’s heart rate was dangerously low.

Maisie survived the birth but was severely brain damaged and was taken off life support two days later.
