THE EXAMINER has helped to pull the plug on a man’s court date for allegedly not paying his water bill.

Worried Alan Tyndall contacted us when he received a bill for almost £400 for water rates at his home in Bankwell Road, Milnsbridge.

But Alan only occupies the ground-floor flat and shares the property with other tenants who had not been paying any water rates at all.

Alan said: “I was really worried when I received the bill because I had never paid so much before. I tried to sort it out, but then I got a notice telling me to appear at Huddersfield County Court on November 10.

“I contacted my landlord and he said he would help as well. I’m just so relieved it has been sorted out and I won’t have to go to court.”

The Examiner contacted Yorkshire Water, who looked into Mr Tyndall’s case.

A company spokesman said: “Thank you for making us aware of this problem. We know now that the house has been divided into flats and will be billing residents accordingly.

“Mr Tyndall’s court notice will be retracted, but this will take a little time to sort out.”
