A MAN found dead in his home suffered from alcohol poisoning, an inquest heard.

Adrian Ramsden, 34, was found by a neighbour at his flat in Helme Park, Meltham, last October 29.

Yesterday’s hearing in Huddersfield heard that he had spent years battling alcohol addiction.

He had stopped drinking shortly before his death, but worried neighbours contacted his GP about his drinking in October.

Mr Ramsden’s body was found when a neighbour climbed a ladder to look through his window. He saw Mr Ramsden on the floor, with blood everywhere.

A post-mortem revealed that Mr Ramsden had 397 milligrams of alcohol per 100 millilitres of blood, five times the drink-drive limit.

He had two cuts on his right thigh, but this did not contribute towards his death.

Coroner Roger Whittaker said Mr Ramsden’s reverting to his old ways led directly to his death.

He recorded a verdict of accidental death caused by excessive alcohol.
