A SERIES of lectures on alcohol awareness have been held at a Huddersfield college.

Kirklees College has taken a new approach to alcohol education, in partnership with the West Yorkshire Trading Standards Service.

Health and Social Care students from the college held a drop-in alcohol awareness session in their Student’s Union The Hub.

The event which emphasised the link between alcohol, the law, and anti-social behaviour and the consequences of underage drinking. The drop-in session included various stands containing information, replica models, leaflets, proof of age applications and dilemma cards to encourage student involvement.

Rebecca Thomas, Senior Tutor for Health, Social Care and Child Studies at the Dewsbury centre said: “Kirklees College is committed to providing our students with information to help them make the right choices and be aware of the consequences of drinking alcohol. I am pleased the event was a success with 215 students attending.”
