COLNE Valley Lions have just held their annual beer festival at Slaithwaite.

The festival last Friday and Saturday was at the village's Conservative Club.

It featured 18 real ales from across Britain, including ones from as far away as the Orkneys and Kent.

Hundreds of people travelled from as far away as Devon, Cornwall and Scotland to sample the drinks.

They supped to a background of entertainment from Slaithwaite Band's oompah section and country and western band The Fusspots.

Keyboard player and vocalist Alec Christie also provided entertainment.

The festival was the Lions club's fourth. Organiser Rod Taylor said: "Since we formed in 1987 we have been raising money for worthy causes and have made about £150,000.

"This is just a good way of raising money for charity. It's been a great success."

This year's festival raised about £2,000.

Half will go to the Yorkshire Air Ambulance and the other half will be given to local good causes throughout the year.
