A SECTION of the Holmfirth-to-New Mill road in New Mill is to be closed for resurfacing and drainage work.

A stretch of the A635 will be affected between Springwood Road and The Crescent, near New Mill village centre.

Drivers will be barred from using it from Monday, August 18 until Sunday, August 24, inclusive.

A Kirklees Council spokeswoman asked drivers to avoid the area if possible.

A diversion route will run between the centres of Holmfirth and New Mill.

From New Mill, it will follow the A616 Huddersfield Road to Honley traffic lights and then the A6024 Woodhead Road to Holmfirth.

From Holmfirth, it will be same route in reverse.

Access to homes and businesses on the A635 New Mill Road will be maintained but there might be delays at times.
