WARDENS at Marsden Moor are offering fire prevention tips to visitors.

They urged people not to smoke on the tinder-dry uplands, not to start any barbecues or use any naked flames.

Temperatures today were expected to reach 30ºC.

The advice follows a spate of fires in May that ravaged hundreds of acres of the Pennine moors.

Marsden Moor warden Philip Weiss said if people visiting the moors saw any signs of fire, they should raise the alarm immediately.
