TWELVE-YEAR-OLD dancer Alicia Brady has tapped her way to the top of the county.

She has won the West Yorkshire junior tap championship in Hunslet, Leeds, and the North and West Yorkshire junior tap championship in Guiseley.

But that is not all that Alicia, from Kirkburton, does. She also does modern ballet and jazz dance, as well as being an accomplished singer.

Two years ago she performed on children's Stars in their Eyes on ITV, as child star Lena Zavaroni.

She also performs with other young singers in the group Velvet, who sing cover versions of pop songs.

Mum Veronica, of Lane Head Lane, said her daughter has also performed with amateur dramatic companies.

Alicia has been winning dance trophies since she started dancing with the Adele Taylor School of Dance, in Dundas Street in Huddersfield town centre at the age of four.

She also learned more about performing when she spent a week at the Theatre School in Blackpool in the summer. "She certainly wants to work in the industry when she's older," added her mum.
