PUPILS were rewarded for their hard work at a prize presentation evening.

Certificates of achievement were given to 2011 GCSE pupils at Almondbury High School and Language College.

Among the winners was Catherine Prentice, Year Leader for the students, who also made a speech on the evening.

Other high achievers were Aysha Wahid and Alex Conway, who won the overall academic attainment certificate.

Jessica Senior was awarded the trophy for outstanding contribution to school life.

Imaan Khalid, Sarah Mear, Daniel Speight, Emma Lindsay, Danielle Biro and Mariah Boyle were all recognised as high achievers.

Headteacher Janet Tolley and Chairman of Governors Alan Turner, were joined by Huddersfield Town legend Andy Booth, at the event at the Galpharm Stadium.

The awards came as the pupils’ efforts helped the school record its highest ever exam results.
