A WOMAN has appeared in court accused of threatening neighbours and police whilst in possession of a knife.

Simone Smith, 25, appeared at Kirklees Magistrates Court yesterday charged with eight offences relating to a neighbour dispute at her home in Eastlands, Almondbury, on May 2 this year.

Smith is charged with possession of a offensive weapon, namely a baseball bat, possession of a bladed article (namely a 5-6 inch serrated blade knife) and threatening to damage property.

Further charges include assault by beating, two counts of causing racially or religiously aggravated intentional harassment, alarm or distress, and two counts of using threatening or abusive, insulting words, behaviour likely to cause harassment, alarm or distress.

The case will next be heard at Leeds Crown Court on July 9.
