AN Almondbury woman is fuming at Kirklees Council staff for failing to pick up rubbish deposited outside her home for more than a month.

Irene Green says the pavement opposite her Farfield Road home was left looking like a tip after someone left a huge bag containing garden waste and other rubbish there.

The bag was left for a special collection of bulky waste, but one month and several phone calls later, Kirklees Environmental Services still failed to pick it up.

Mrs Green said: “I think that the many people who put stuff out for the council hoping they will take their rubbish should be aware of this.

“I can’t believe it has taken this long – I bet they would be quick enough to fine me if I left too much rubbish in my bin!”

When the Examiner contacted Steve Noble, environment manager for the service, he apologised for the rubbish not being picked up and said he was sending an officer round to do so immediately.

He said: “I can only offer Mrs Green my sincere apologies.

“She logged the complaint and it was due to be completed on August 13 but it has not been done.

“This was an error on our part but we are dealing with it as we speak.”
