AN ALMONDBURY woman stole from a clothes shop because she couldn’t be bothered to queue.

Levi Scott, of Town End, was before Huddersfield magistrates yesterday.

She admitting stealing jewellery from the town centre branch of budget fashion store Primark on September 17.

Vanessa Schofield, prosecuting, said that the 22-year-old was seen entering the store.

She paid for a handbag but put £7.50 worth of jewellery in her pocket and left the shop without paying.

She was stopped by security staff and the items were recovered.

Magistrates were told that Scott had a history of violence but no previous convictions for shop thefts.

Bob Carr, defending, said: “She had purchased a handbag and after that picked jewellery.

“She intended to pay for it and went to queue.

“You can imagine that in a store like Primark the queue was especially long.

“She got fed up of waiting and walked out.”

Magistrates gave Scott a conditional discharge and ordered her to pay £85 towards court costs.
