A Holmfirth man has appeared in court accused of exposing himself in public twice.

Roy Shaw, of Field Road, was before Kirklees magistrates yesterday.

Both alleged incidents were witnessed by girls aged between 10 and 14. The first of these was on July 26, prosecutor Alex Bozman said. On that date the 66-year-old allegedly exposed himself outside his home.

On September 29 a similar incident was said to have taken place on a cricket pitch off Huddersfield Road in Holmfirth.

Shaw gave no indication as to what his plea to the charges will be. His solicitor Eleanor Reyland said there may be an issue with his fitness to plead as he suffers from Alzheimer’s. Because of this magistrates committed his case to Leeds Crown Court where he will first appear on December 20.

In the meantime Shaw is on conditional bail, banning him from any park or recreation area in the UK. He must also not enter within 100 metres of any school or educational establishment in the country.
