STAFF at South Crosland Juniors have been seeing double.

And they have done so three times over, after three sets of twins marked their birthdays.

A remarkable coincidence meant that the only twins in the school were celebrating on consecutive days.

James and Lewis Sharp were nine on Tuesday, Toby and Zack Shaw were eight on Wednesday and on Thursday Neave and Anna Luckow turned 11.

Headteacher Carolyn Booth said: “We have 207 children in the school so I suppose three sets of twins is not so out of the ordinary.

“But the odds against this must be quite high.

“When a pupil has a birthday they come up and light a candle at the start of assembly and we made the connection pretty quick.

“As the week went on we realised that the twins were standing up to come to the front.

“After the first two days and the first two twins we realised it was Neave and Anna’s birthday after that, and the next day they too were up at the front and lighting their candle.

“The pupils definitely thought it was unusual.

“Because of their ages it won’t happen again.

“It is only going to be this year when they will all be in school together.

“If they all go to the same school though they’ll find the same thing happens again!”
