THE Amazon jungle came to a Huddersfield school.

Hundreds of children at Crow Lane School in Milnsbridge dressed as rainforest explorers, hunters, caterpillars and monkeys.

The costume day was the culmination of a fortnight of events to teach the pupils about eco-systems.

Head teacher Chris Lees said: "The idea was to teach the kids about the environment in an exciting way."

Two weeks ago all 250 children visited the mini rainforest at Tropical World at Roundhay Park in Leeds.

Mr Lees said: "They thought it was absolutely brilliant.

"They got to experience the humidity of a real rainforest."

The three to 11-year-olds have also put up rainforest decorations.

Some of the children and staff are pictured in their outfits.
