HUDDERSFIELD'S bonniest babies are in the pink after being crowned the town's cutest tots.

Winners of this year's Examiner Baby Of The Year competition gathered in the Packhorse Centre yesterday to receive their prizes.

Examiner editor Roy Wright carried out the honours, presenting ten-month-old Amelia Cadwell with the coveted Baby of the Year trophy.

Roy said he was pleased that so many had taken part this year.

He said: "We were absolutely inundated with entries again this year.

"But it was our readers who chose the winners by voting for their favourites."

"I am delighted to see them here today to collect their prizes."

Amelia, who lives with her parents Helen and Stephen Cadwell at Croft Gardens, Birkby, was chosen out of 548 entrants in the competition.

She was presented with a £200 portrait photograph by John Woods Photography.

Her parents received a music system, given by Argos, along with a £20 clothing voucher from Qbos and a £10 meat voucher from R C Russell butchers.

Helen said: "I was really surprised when I heard she had won.

"I am just really proud and excited."

Kyra Jade Amato came second in the competition, but could not be there to collect her prize. The 16-month-old tot lives with mum Jodie on Manchester Road, Linthwaite. Her dad Shane Amato lives in Almondbury.

Third place in the contest went to Kiana Pusey, eight months, who lives with her mum Sara Dearnley and dad Robert Pusey at Fulford Avenue, Fartown.

All the winners received portrait photographs as well as gift vouchers.

The competition was sponsored by the Packhorse Centre.
