RUBBISH dumpers have ruined a Farnley Tyas beauty spot.

Pensioner Marjorie Russell, who lives at Farnley Bank, off Wood Bank Road, lashed out at the culprits for leaving a bed, settee, chairs and other smashed-up pieces of furniture in a country track used by walkers.

Mrs Russell, a Tory on Kirkburton Parish Council, who uses the track to reach her home, said the thoughtless flytippers had spoiled one of the most idyllic places in Kirklees.

The rubbish appeared some time overnight last Wednesday.

The area around Woodsome Lane and Bank Foot Road has been targeted by flytippers before.

"We have had the odd fridge and microwave oven," said Mrs Russell.

"We have also had a car burned out and I had to call the police and the fire service."

She said the tippers should have paid for the rubbish to be properly disposed of: "All that lot could have been taken away for £40."

Mrs Russell believed incidents of flytipping were increasing now Kirklees Council was charging for the removal of household waste.

She has asked council staff to come and remove the rubbish, because it was ruining the area for many people.

A Kirklees Council spokesman said the complaint was being investigated.
