ROBBERS fled after yet another attack on a Huddersfield taxi driver.
The two men got in a HD Cars cab outside Revolution bar, on Cross Church Street, in the early hours of yesterday.
They asked to be taken to Zion Close in Lindley. When they got there they assaulted the 40-year-old driver.
He managed to get out of the taxi and escape his attackers, who made off towards West Street.
When the victim returned to his blue Toyota Avensis car cash and a mobile phone were missing.
The driver was left with a black eye, but was otherwise unhurt.
The attack, at about 3.55am, followed seven robberies on taxi drivers last month in the Fartown, Sheepridge and Crosland Moor areas.
Two men arrested over those incidents remain on bail.
Police are not linking yesterday’s robbery to the others.
But Makhan Singh, of Kirklees Hackney Carriage Association, said: “It looks like the other incidents have given people ideas.”
Police want to talk to witnesses to yesterday’s attack.
They said the taxi stopped at Top News newsagents on Colne Road in Aspley on the way to Zion Close
The attackers were slim, white men in their late teens or early 20s. Both were about 5ft tall. One was wearing a cap and a white shirt. The other wore a black top.
