OPERA North's long-serving chorus member David Owen-Lewis will be presenting a special evening at LBT’s Opera Circle.

The evening, called My Life in Opera, will be on Tuesday, March 3, and David will be accompanied by renowned pianist Keith Swallow for an insightful look into his life in opera.

He will be performing his favourite songs as well as reciting anecdotes from his successful career.

David was born in the Swansea Valley. He started singing at an early age and has never stopped singing since. He studied at the National Welsh College of Music and Drama and his life has been one long adventure in music from that time.

Besides being a member of the Opera North chorus for the past 20years, he has managed to find time to have a varied career in oratorio, concerts, music-hall and cabaret. He has taken part in many educational projects and he often does the pre-performance talks for Opera North productions. Despite all this, David is now looking for new adventures in music.

Keith Swallow won a West Riding of Yorkshire music scholarship at the age of 16 and went to study at the Royal Manchester College of Music where he was awarded prizes,Šdiplomas and the MMus Degree of the Royal College in London.

He was later made anŠHonorary Fellow of the College. He broadcasts regularly as accompanist, soloist, chamberŠmusician and piano duettist and has taken part in most major music festivals. Although heŠconsiders himself to be primarily an accompanist, he is in constant demand as a soloist – Ša reluctant one – and is widely known for his performance of 20th century English pianoŠmusic.

The LBT Opera Circle is made up of opera enthusiasts who meet on the first Monday of every month. Special guests and well known speakers are invited by the group to give in depth insights into opera and this special event with David Owen-Lewis is being staged for the public to enjoy also.

Tickets are £5 with concessions at £4.

The event starts at 7.45pm.
