Closing time could be called for good at a landmark Paddock pub as plans have been submitted to turn the former pub into an apartment.

Philomena Stringer has applied for planning consent to turn The Angel Hotel on Longwood Road, Paddock, into an apartment.

A statement submitted with the application says the pub, which has already closed, is no longer viable as a public house.

It has been listed for rent for two years with no-one taking it over and the owner feels residential use would be the best option to make use of the building.

The flat would be in what was the bar area and have three bedrooms. There is an existing flat at the property.

The application is open to public comments until December 3 at Kirklees Council.
