Police are appealing for information after two members of staff were assaulted and threatened at Huddersfield Railway Station.

Officers have released CCTV images of a man they would like to speak to in connection with the incident, which happened just after 3.15pm on Thursday, October 8.

PC Andy Storey said: “A man entered the station but was refused travel by a member of ticket barrier staff, due to the fact he was heavily intoxicated.

“The man pushed the member of staff’s arm, and shoved him forcefully in the back with both hands, causing him to fall into the barriers. He then left the station only to return a few minutes later.

“When he was asked to leave by another member of rail staff, the man threatened him and punched him in the chest before leaving the station and walking into Huddersfield town centre”.

Will Munton, Huddersfield station manager at First TransPennine Express, said: “Our staff come to work to help customers, not to face abuse. Any act of violence or intimidation on our staff is taken extremely seriously, and we will continue to work closely with the British Transport Police to make sure the perpetrator is tracked down.”
