DEVELOPERS have challenged the blocking of their homes plan.

Proposals to build on the site of the former JCT car showroom in Somerset Road, Almondbury, were thrown out in January.

Now a public inquiry will be held after an appeal by Quest Property.

The company wants to build 44 flats.

Kirklees Council refused planning permission because of the development's size.

The inquiry has been set for next Tuesday at Huddersfield Town Hall, starting at 10am.

A council spokes- woman said any interested person or group could attend.

Quest Property has made three previous bids to build on the land.

The showroom closed in 2001, when the business was transferred to other sites in the JCT group.
